Sialkot Customs foils bid to smuggle Indian cumin, foreign currency in different operations

SIALKOT: The Sialkot Customs officials foiled a bid of supply of smuggled Indian cumin in local markets of this region and seized as many as ten tons of the Indian cumin from a dubious truck , during a special checking on different points of the GT Road here.

According to the senior Sialkot customs officials , during this special checking on GT Road, the concerned officials of the Sialkot Customs have seized a truck carrying as many as 10 tons of the smuggled Indian cumin (worth millions of rupees) from this dubious truck.

The senior customs officials said, the seized bulk of Indian cumin (weighing ten tons) was packed in 300 bags, which being smuggled to this Sialkot region’s local markets as well.

The officials added that the customs officials also offloaded an accused passenger Muhammad Bilal (resident of Rahwali-Gujranwala Cantt) from a flight to Dubai from Sialkot international airport. The accused was off-loaded and arrested for illegally carrying the foreign currencies (USD12600 and UAE dirhams 12700), amounting Rs1.8 million, with him.

The customs teams also impounded two non-customs paid luxury vehicles (worth of Rs 8 million) during a special checking near Sialkot here, the officials added.
