Sialkot Customs impounds non-duty paid Toyota Hilux Surf

SIALKOT: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Gujranwala Region has impounded a non customs duty paid Toyota Hilux Surf worth Rs 2 million at Kamokey Check post during vehicle checking.

According to details, deputy director Customs Intelligence Gujranwala Region Ali Zeb Khan ordered Assistant Director Itrat Hussian constitute team to check vehicles on GT Road under the campaign to impound non customs duty paid vehicles.

However under the directions of Assistant Director the Superintendent Tahir Rafique constituted a team under the supervision of Inspector Syed Majid Raza to check vehicles.

The inspector along with his team constables Mubashir, Sajid Raza, Usama, Boota and Arshad started checking of vehicles at kamokey Check Post on GT road. The team checked various vehicles meanwhile team intercepted a Toyota Hilux Surf bearing registration number BF-6597 Model 2005 Sindh which was plying road without customs paid duty. The team asked driver Rahmat about customs paid duty documents but driver was failed to produce documents of customs paid duty.

The driver told team that I am driver of this vehicle but I am not owner rather owner is in Sindh while the driver contacted owner on phone and informed him about the latest situation but the owner advised driver to hand over the vehicle to team whereas the driver handed over the vehicle to team.

The impounded vehicle and shifted in the compound of department office. The team has registered a case under section 157/158 of customs laws and Customs Act 1969.
