Sialkot exporters receives Rs9b cutlery items orders from Gulf countries

SIALKOT: The exporters of the cutlery items have received the  record export orders of cutlery items (worth of Rs. 9 billion) from the foreign buyers in Saudi Arabia, UAE and other Middle East countries.

Some leading cutlery exporters Arif Mehmood Sheikh,  Muhammad Aslam, Bashir Ahmed, Khalid Mehmood, Ghula Rasul and Muhammad Iqbal told the newsmen that the buyers of the cutlery items(including sharp-edged knives, draggers and choppers) in Saudi Arabia, UAE and Middle East countries have diverted their business towards Sialkot and Wazirabad from China and India due to the world standard quality of the cutlery items here in Sialkot-Pakistan.

They said that the said exporters orders of the cutlery items (worth of Rs.9 billion) will be dispatched to the foreign destinations ahead of this Eidul Azha.

They added that the recently imposed import duty on the imports of the knives and choppers from abroad has also flourished the consumption of Sialkot and Wazirabad made knives and sharp-edged choppers across Pakistan. The nation wide trade of these items has touched the figures of Rs.4 billion ahead of the coming Eidul Azha, which has boosted the local production and consumption of these items as well, they added…#
