SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines (SIA) will honour around 900 business class tickets that were mistakenly sold in Australia at economy rates due to a computer error to ensure no disruption to their customers’ travel plans.

Last week, the airlines said it would be working with travel agents in Australia to recover the differences in prices. The carrier was alerted to the error on Nov 29, but only managed to fix the problem two days later after hundreds of tickets were sold.

Some tickets that originally cost S$6,615 were sold for prices as low as S$3,860. SIA says it is continuing to investigate what caused the sale at a cheaper price. The airline will be contacting affected customers and travel agents to advise that their Business Class bookings will be honoured at the original fare purchased.

“Singapore Airlines would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused,” the carrier said in a statement.
