SINGAPORE: Over 3,000 cartons and 979 packets of duty-unpaid cigarettes were seized at Woodlands Checkpoint on Tuesday.
A 38-year old male with a 32-year-male attendant were stopped in their Malaysia-registered lorry at 3.50am on Tuesday at the checkpoint, said the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), in a press release here the other day.
The total amount of the duty and GST of the contraband cigarettes came to about $261,000 and $24,800 respectively.
The two Malaysians, the cigarettes and the lorry have been handed over to Singapore Customs for further investigations.
