In case you buy yourself a new Android smartphone or an iPhone for that matter, it is now possible to get your old WhatsApp conversations right on the new phone.

If your phone has a microSD card, go WhatsApp menu and tap on Settings. While in there, tap on Chat settings and then proceed by tapping on Backup. After that, you can remove the SD card from your old phone and insert it in your new phone. When you download, install and setup WhatsApp on your new phone, hit “Restore” and you will get all conversations back where they were, but on the new phone.

In case of those without an SD card, the same process will apply, but you may need a file manager to access the saved WhatsApp folder. After reaching it, you can simply move the contents to the new storage via a PC and USB cable.

Dealing with the “last seen” feature

Whenever you open a chat, you can see last seen details of time and date just below the name of your contact. This represents the last time this contact checked into WhatsApp and it is the same thing your friends see on their end. If you don’t want them to see this “last seen” feature under your name when chatting with you, simply set the status to “Nobody” via the “Settings>Account>Privacy” options. However, remember that you won’t be able to see theirs too. There are more privacy options under the Privacy section of Account settings and from here; you can still mask your profile picture, status, among others.

Going around the blue ticks feature

Whenever you send someone a message on WhatsApp, you probably may have noticed some ticks appearing against the message. When one tick appears, it means the message has been sent. Immediately you notice a second tick against the message, it means that the message has been delivered to the device of the intended recipient. These two grey ticks will turn blue when the person you sent the message opens it to read it.

If you want more information about these details, simply tap and hold on a message and then follow it by tapping the info icon at the top of the screen.

Using WhatsApp Web

Did you know that you can send and receive WhatsApp messages using a PC? Well, if you didn’t, now you know. WhatsApp Web is the name of the PC client. However, you must first of all install Chrome, Opera or Firefox on your PC before being able to access WhatsApp Web. On your Android phone, open WhatsApp and tap on the menu. Select WhatsApp Web and you will see a QR code scanner open. Leave it at that and go back to your PC. Using any of the above mentioned web browsers, go to the page web.whatsapp.com and then scan the QR code on this page using the open QR code scanner on your phone. That’s it. You can now start using WhatsApp on your PC.

Are You Facing a Problem with WhatsApp groups?

You may join a group that initially is very interesting to be part of. As time ticks, you get bored with the group and some chats start annoying you, prompting the idea of leaving the group to sparkle. Well, there is no need of leaving the group once and for all, as you can still be part of the group without being disturbed by any of the group’s activities.

All you need is to launch WhatsApp and head to the group. Tap on the menu and on it you should see an option for “Mute”. Furthermore, you can enable or disable group notifications from this end by simply checking or unchecking the option labeled “Show notifications”.
