MADRID: International ticket re-seller Ticketbis based in Spain ended 2014 with revenues of €54 million. It almost doubles that of 2013. The startup has been prospering from exponential growth ever since its launch in 2009.

The startup’s notable success is partly thanks to its timely and strategic expansion into other regions such as South America and Asia, and consolidation in European markets. 50% of revenue is derived from Europe, mostly from countries like the UK, Spain, Italy and Germany, while 40% comes from Latin America, with most sales coming from Argentina, Mexico, and Brazil. Finally, following only one year of operations in Asia, the continent already accounts for 10% of total revenues. Prospects for the region are highest in advanced markets such as Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong.

International expansion has also given the company insights on other market trends, some of which are illustrated in this animated infographic called Fans on the Move, which was created with Ticketbis data. The trends suggest a large increase in the numbers of people traveling abroad to consume events. Ticketbis’ cross-border ticket sales showed a 53% increase from 2012 to 2013 and a 61% increase from 2013 to 2014.
