Spanish unemployed stands at 4.3m in 2015

MADRID: During the month of April the number of people registered as out of work in Spain fell by 118,923, the best ever result in the fourth month of the year and a significant step towards reducing the country’s alarming Record fall in Spanish unemployment figures for Aprilunemployment rate.

The total still stands at 4,333,016 unemployed, but a drop of 2.67% in just one month can be taken as positive news both for the economy and for the government in the run-up to this month’s municipal and regional elections in spite of the fact that the majority of contracts issued are temporary. Even when seasonality is statistically removed from the figures, a decrease of over 50,000 still represents the best April performance since comparable figures were first produced in 1996, and the total is now back down to where it was in September 2011, before the current government came into office.
