Syrian Trade Minister discusses ties with Consul of Republic of Kazakhstan

DAMASCUS: Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Hammam al -Jazairi discussed with the Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Damascus Babur Dernbek prospects of developing cooperation between the two countries in trade, economic and investment fields.

The minister pointed out that the economic situation in Syria has witnessed a growing improvement, whereas the year , achieved positive economic growth for the first time during the years of crisis , driven by the development of  the private sector,” and the expansion of the public investment spending, particularly in the industrial and agricultural activities.

Dr. al -Jazairi  stressed the importance of coordination between the two countries in order to create new structures designed to re-activate trade and investment relations, pointing out that Syria renews desire to join the Eurasian Customs Union, which is the Republic of Kazakhstan is one of the founding nations of the block.

For his part, the Kazakhs Consul stressed the importance of work to promote trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, pointing to the existence of a genuine desire among Kazakhs businessmen to brief on the economic reality in Syria  and available trade investment opportunities.

He expressed his country’s hope of the return of security and stability to Syria in the near future.
