Tampered Mazda loader taken into possession by Hyderabad Customs Intelligence

HYDERABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Hyderabad Region has impounded a non-duty paid Mazda truck(Tampered), model 1997, worth Rs2.5million involving duties and taxes of Rs2.5million during an action at Bypass Hyderabad  during the month of September 2017-18.

Sources told Customs Today that I&I Hyderabad, on the strict instructions of Directorate General Customs Intelligence & Investigation Director Shuakat Ali and I&I Hyderabad Region Director Tahir Qureshi, took effective measures to curb the smuggling in the region.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs Intelligence Director Hyderabad Region Tahir Qureshi received a tip-off regarding a non-duty-paid vehicle. He formed a team, comprising Superintendent Intelligence Officer, sepoys and drivers, to conduct a raid for impounding the said Mazda truck. The market value of the loader is Rs02.5million involving duties and taxes amounting to Rs02.1million.

The FIU team intercepted the said truck with registration No: JY-1390 near Hyderabad Bypass and asked the owner of the loader to produce documents regarding the legal import and possession of the truck, but he failed to provide the same. Therefore officials, taking legal action, took into possession the vehicle under customs bylaws and registered a case against the accused.
