ISLAMABAD: The Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Rawalpindi has submitted seizure and contravention reports before Adjudication Collector Seema Raza Bukhari in the TCS and Smart Zone smuggling case.

After getting the reports, the adjudication collector has issued show-cause notices to TCS and Smart Zone Company. They have been ordered to give their viewpoint in the court of Seema Bukhari. The adjudication collector will hear the case next week.

On the other hand, Smart Zone CEO Shakirullah has moved the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench for his release. The customs intelligence has been made a respondent in this regard. However, the customs intelligence has not received a notice from the court in this regard. In the light of evidence and developments in the case, it is likely that both TCS and Smart Zone could be heavily fined and the illegal goods could also be seized.

If the adjudication collector gives her verdict against TCS and Smart Zone then the case would be moved to the tribunal. If the tribunal upheld the collector’s verdict then the high court could be moved in this regard.
