Thai investors show interest to invest in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Thai investors have expressed their interest to invest in the fields of fish catching, storage, transportation, packing and canning.

Thailand Board of Investment Director Chollada Areerajjakul alongwith 7-member Thai delegation visited Board of Investment and met with Iftikhar Babar, Secretary, BoI.

The Secretary, BOI informed that Pakistan is strategically located to become Asia’s premier trade, energy and transport corridor.

It is also the gateway to the energy rich Central Asian States, the financially liquid Gulf States and the economically advanced Far Eastern countries, he added.He said that strategic advantage alone makes Pakistan a market full of opportunities. The Secretary, BOI also offered to make an investment in Special Economic Zone of Pakistan.

Chollada Areerajjakul had informed that Thailand Board of Investment operates under the Prime Minister and is the principal government agency for encouraging investment. They assist investors in numerous ways and provides comprehensive information and advice on establishing operations in Thailand, arranges site visits, identifies potential suppliers, subcontractors and joint venture partners. She also informed that two major Thai companies, Charoen Pokphand Group and Thai Urethane Group, have successfully established Charoen Pokphand Pakistan (Pvt) Limited (CP Pakistan) and T.U. Plastic Industry Co, Pvt Ltd. The Secretary, BOI assured them full cooperation and appreciated their proposals.
