PHUKET: Cosmetics and food products valued at around B100,000 were seized in Wichit after the Consumer Protection Police discovered all the seized items were mislabelled.
CPP Crime Suppression Chief Maj Phayom Pamoonkhetnil armed with a warrant of arrest from Phuket Provincial Court raided one of the island’s biggest cosmetic retailers after his department in Bangkok received several complaints from consumers shop had been selling cosmetic and tea products to customers with incorrect descriptions on the labels.
CPP discovered many items in the store, located on Wirat Hongyok Rd, including cosmetics, heath foods and soaps had incorrect labels, something which violates the 2015 Cosmetic and 1979 Food Product (Tea) Regulations.
Police seized 1,091 packages of tea products without labels, 190 tubes of Aloe Vera Gel that did not display a name in Thai and had no batch number or production date, 300 boxes of cosmetic products with no batch number and more than 400 soaps.
Maj Phayom said “All items we have seized today have wrong labels. The goods are valued at close to B100,000. ”
The store owner, Thawatchai Wannoon, 30, who admitted to selling the products, was taken to Wichit Police Station for more questioning.
