TOKYO: At the Denver Auto Show, Paul Cavanaugh gave the assembled media a quick pitch for the refreshed, third-generation 2016 Toyota Tacoma.
The Tacoma is by no means midsize it is now a full size pickup with high-grade capabilities and some dandy new features to boot. This new Tacoma, which will come to local dealers this September, will come in five trim levels, which range from the base model SR, followed by the SR5, TRD Off Road and TRD Sport continuing up to the top of the line Limited.
“The Tacoma has been the best-selling truck in America for 24 of the last 28 years,” remarked Cavanaugh. “It is designed in Detroit, tested in Arizona and built in San Antonio and the Baja.”
The new features include a new terrain selector, a power plug in the bed, plus a GoPro camera mount that comes standard beneath the right rear view mirror for those who are driven to record their off-road adventures. Also included is an integrated tailgate spoiler, trailer electrical plug above the license plate larger screens between the gauges and on the console, plus cordless phone charging all riding on a re-engineered platform.
This could have been a longer report, but no specs things like price, efficiency, curb weight, ground clearance and so on are available for the vehicle as yet. Nevertheless, the Toyota Tacoma has truly come of age and the 2016 model just might be worth the wait.
