Tokyo stocks open flat, Nikkei 225 down 54.41pts

TOKYO: Tokyo stocks opened slightly lower in early trading Monday as investor sentiment was undermined by weak Japan manufacturing data.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 54.41 points, or 0.28 percent, from Friday to 19,231.22. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo STOCK EXCHANGE shed 8.21 points, or 0.53 percent, to 1,544.57.
