Tokyo stocks surge 0.50% in early trade, Nikkei 225 up 92.44pts

TOKYO: Tokyo stocks gained 0.50 percent in the morning session of Wednesday as data showed the country’s machinery orders in January fell less than expected.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 92.44 points from Tuesday to 18,757.55. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 3.55 points, or 0.23 percent, to 1,528.30.
