ISLAMABAD: A meeting of Executive Committee of ICT Chamber of Small Traders was held under the chair of its President Mian Khalid.

The meeting passed a unanimous resolution against the planned construction of slaughter house in G-9/4, Islamabad and called upon the CDA to shift this project to a far-flung area. Through another resolution, it was demanded that local administration should build a separate place for political rallies away from the city and no political rally should be allowed in markets to save business activities from disturbance.

Addressing the meeting, Mian Khalid said that a modern slaughter house was already available in Kahuta Triangle Industrial Estate, but due to its bad smell, the residents of surrounding areas were facing great problems. Even the students of Muhammad Ali Jinnah University located about 4 kilometer away from said slaughter house were upset from its smell.

He said that if slaughter house was constructed in H-9 or G-9, it would badly affect the residents of vicinity areas. He questioned why the CDA was adamant at building a slaughter house in the middle of city in order to favor certain persons. He warned that if the slaughter house was built forcefully, the residents and traders would launch a strong protest movement. He also called for allocation of a separate place for political rallies in the federal capital away from commercial centers.
