Turkmenistan’s total commercial gas export to reach 160-170bcm per year

ANKARA: Turkmenistan’s total commercial gas export volume can reach 160-170 billion cubic meters (bcm) per year, with the possibility of increasing by 10 billion cubic meters of gas per year, Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry and Mineral Resources said.

It is quite explainable that by raking fourth in the world for the volume of natural gas reserve, Turkmenistan seeks to significantly expand the access to the international gas market in order to use natural resources as efficiently as possible,” said the message.

Moreover, in its message, the ministry provided data about the diversification of export routes of Turkmen natural gas.

The designated projects are related to the following directions: Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline (pumping capacity – 65 billion cubic meters of commercial gas per year); operating gas pipelines running towards Russia (up to 10 billion cubic meters. Nevertheless, the existing infrastructure allows to deliver considerable volume of gas); operating gas pipelines running to Iran (up to 20 billion cubic meters); Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline (pumping capacity – 33 billion cubic meters); Trans-Caspian gas pipeline (up to 30 billion cubic meters).
