BRASILIA: The Publishers Association is set to commence a week-long UK Trade trip to Brazil.
The trip will take place from the 31st August to the 5th September and the UK delegation will consist of both publishers and agents who aim to sell rights to Brazil.
Attending the trip will be Anna Watkins, rights manager for Aitken Associates; Elizabeth White, academic and professional rights manager for Bloomsbury Academic and Professional; and Sandra Sawicka, foreign rights agent for Mariacq Scripts Ltd, among others.
As part of the trip, the delegates will attend a market briefing at Livraria Cultura in Sao Paulo, visit the Rio Biennal Book Fair, and meet Brazilian publishers looking to sell rights. The Rio Biennal Book Fair will also host UK authors including David Nichols.
Also attending the delegation will be Andy Hine, joint rights director for Little, Brown; Jemma McDonagh, rights manager for the Marsh Agency Ltd.; Rachel Mills, agents and international business director for Peters Fraser and Dunlop; Amy Mitchell is foreign rights Agent for United Agents; and Monique Corless, senior foreign rights manager for Vintage Books, a division of Penguin Random House.
The trip will help foster relationships between UK and Brazilian publishers which will enable them to better sell and pick up translation rights.
The Publishers Association’s director of publisher relations, Emma House, and publisher relations executive, Seonaid MacLeod, will also be in attendance.
