LONDON: The retail sales of England have surged by 0.4 per cent in July as compared with the previous month on the back of promotional discounts for electrical appliances and furniture.
According to the official data issued by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), sales by volume gained 0.1 percent last month compared with June. That dashed market expectations of a 0.4 percent increase, according to analysts polled by Bloomberg, but marked an improvement after a 0.1 percent drop in June. The ONS added that retail sales grew by 4.3 percent in July compared with one year earlier.
