LONDON: Manchester United and US insurance giant Aon have launched their first complimentary personal accident cover in Pakistan ‘United We Go Higher’, which will be promoted via a series of activities in the country.

As part of Aon’s relationship with Haier Mobile, the accident cover will be distributed in the form of an Aon and Manchester United branded insurance card to all consumers that purchase a new Haier smartphone.

Each limited edition collectable card will feature an image of one of United’s first team players.

To kick off the launch, Aon will automatically enter recipients of the complimentary insurance into a prize draw to win Manchester United prizes and experiences, including team training kits and Manchester United merchandise.

The chance to win a trip to the Aon Training Complex in Manchester to watch Manchester United’s first team train is also up for grabs.

Manchester United group managing director, Richard Arnold said the initiative comes as football becomes an increasingly popular sport amongst the country’s younger generations.

“It is an important market for Manchester United, one we wish to explore further, and we are proud to already have close to 4.5 million followers in Pakistan. With the help of our longstanding partner, Aon, we hope to further engage with these fans through the excellent insurance products being offered.”

To support the launch a series of activities including matchday screenings, interactive games, and local initiatives with schools, colleges and universities will run in Pakistan.

The football club penned a multi-million dollar deal with Aon in 2013 as part of an aggressive marketing strategy aimed at driving revenue through sponsorship.

The initiative follows a push into the Japanese market from the football club last November as Manchester United continues to deepen its engagement with the Asia Pacific region.
