PHILADELPHIA: Authorities in Philadelphia say a drug probe led to the confiscation of 22 pounds of heroin with a street value of $3.3 million.
District Attorney Seth Williams said here the other day that three people have been arrested. They face drug charges in addition to conspiracy and racketeering counts.
Williams says local and federal agents began investigating in March. They later discovered what they believed was a stash house for drugs and money in the city’s Rhawnhurst neighborhood.
On April 28, authorities stopped two defendants outside the house. They say one suspect was carrying more than two pounds of heroin. A search warrant yielded 20 more pounds inside the house, plus packaging paraphernalia.
The investigation is continuing.
Last month in New York, authorities seized 150 pounds of heroin and $2 million in cash.
