CHAMPLAIN: United States Customs and Border Protection seized more than $24,000 in unreported U.S. currency at the Rouses Point Amtrak station, CBP official said.
U.S. Customs and Border officers inspecting the train from Montreal to New York City found a woman claiming to have recently traveled to Cuba. The woman then provided a declaration form to officers and stated that she and her son each had $5,000 on them.
Officers say during a secondary inspection, they found multiple envelopes with more than $20,000 in total.
The currency was seized and the incident is still under investigation.
