TEXAS: US Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector rescued four illegal immigrants from the trunk of a car and arrested a man with an outstanding warrant in two unrelated incidents.
The rescue occurred when a female United States citizen, attempted to drive through the Falfurrias Checkpoint on US Highway 281. During an immigration inspection, a Border Patrol K-9 alerted to the vehicle. The vehicle was sent to the secondary inspection area where agents rescued four individuals, who were locked in the trunk with no way to get out in the event of an emergency.
In Kingsville, the wanted subject was arrested near Sarita by agents assigned to the Kingsville Station. During processing, agents discovered that the man, a Guatemalan national, had been arrested by the Huntsville, Ala., Police Department and charged with rape in the first degree. Additionally, the man has an outstanding arrest warrant for failure to appear. He was turned over to the Kenedy County Sherriff’s Office pending extradition to Alabama.
