DEL RIO: Federal authorities at the Del Rio Port of Entry arrested a local man, on June 29, after finding more than two pounds of alleged heroin hidden in his vehicle.
“We are committed to disrupting the flow of illegal narcotics into the country at the ports of entry,” said Alberto Perez, CBP Port Director, Del Rio. “Our frontline CBP officers’ experience and attention to detail are essential in carrying out this mission.”
Around 1 p.m. June 29, CBP officers, at the Del Rio International Bridge, inspected a 2002 Ford F-250 pickup truck as it arrived from Mexico. During inspection, officers discovered four packages hidden in the vehicle. The packages contained a total of 2.77 pounds of alleged heroin.
The driver, a 51-year-old Del Rio man, was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for federal prosecution.
