The seizure was made concealed inside a rear cargo/trunk compartment of a 2005 Mazda Tribute.
CBP canine, “Buster” assisted in locating the contraband by alerting on the rear of the vehicle. The seizure was the result of pre-primary roving operations at the port. CBP officers ultimately utilized the Z-portal x-ray system to spot the anomalies in the cargo area of the vehicle. CBP officers continued their exam and located the contraband.
The 19-year old U.S. Citizen driver of the vehicle from El Paso was taken into custody and faces charges associated with the failed smuggling attempt.
