YUMA ARIZ: Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents arrested seven illegal immigrants and seized more than 700 pounds of marijuana in a two-day period.
Wellton Station agents arrested seven illegal immigrants and seized seven bundles of marijuana, weighing 471 pounds, south of Interstate 8 near Mile Marker 102. One of the smugglers had previously been charged with six counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon, and two others had extensive immigration-related convictions.
A Border Patrol agent assigned to the Camp Grip Forward Operating Base discovered five abandoned bundles of marijuana, weighing 260 pounds, in the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge.
The marijuana, with a combined estimated value of $365,500, was seized and processed for destruction. All seven subjects were processed per Yuma Sector guidelines.
