LONDON: The U.S. dollar traded in the upper 119 yen range early Tuesday in Tokyo, almost unchanged from its overnight levels in New York.
At 9 a.m., the dollar fetched 119.92-93 yen compared with 119.92-120.02 yen in New York and 119.75-77 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Monday.
The euro was quoted at $1.1324-1.1325 and 135.80-81 yen against $1.1310-1320 and 135.67-77 yen in New York and $1.1390-1392 and 136.40-44 yen in Tokyo late Monday afternoon.
In New York on Monday, the dollar drew buying against the safe-haven yen as firmer U.S. stock prices stimulated investors’ risk appetite. The dollar rose to 120.04 yen at one point, also backed by an uptrend in U.S. long-term interest rates.
