NEW YORK: HTC One M8 is now able to get Android Lollipop 5.0 update through Verizon.
Verizon has posted the official support documents for the Android 5.0 update for its HTC One M8. This means that if the update’s not rolling out already, it will shortly. To check and see if Lollipop is available to you, head into Settings > Phone Update > Check for Update.
As for what’s included, it’s the usual HTC Lollipop fare. There’s Android 5.0-style notifications, lock screen notifications, a new Recent Apps feature, and some Verizon tweaks like Band 4 roaming support.
The Verizon variant of the smartphone is now getting its update to Android 5.0 Lollipop. HTC kept to its promise of launching 5.0 Lollipop to the One M8 within three months of its launch, but carriers always take a little longer sending out the software.
The Android 5.0 Lollipop update brings with it a “Recent Apps” menu, Project Volta for improved battery, Lock Screen notifications, Material Design, and a slew of other new additions that are a part of the Android 5.0 party.
Verizon is certainly ahead of main rival AT&T as Ma Bell only brought Android 4.4.4 to the HTC One M8 on January 19th. You will have to have more than 50% battery on your One M8, while a Wi-Fi connection is recommended. As always, the upgrade is rolling out in stages, so you may not see t straights away. You can check for it manually by heading to Settings > Software Update > Check New on your handset.
