SYDNEY: Rakuten acquired Viber a year ago, now the popular messaging app has been optimized for Apple’s latest device iterations.
Competitors of Viber updated their apps for the iPhone 6 and 6 plus last month. KakaoTalk, Line Messenger and BBm were all among these rival applications. It was only a matter of time, now Viber has finally gained full support for Apple’s latest flagship devices. The apps new optimization for the iPhone 6 and 6 plus isn’t the only upgrade Viber has made recently. There is an expanded assortment of emoji, from 85 to 213 characters which have been redesigned as well.
The latest update has also brought some bug fixes to Rakuten’s messaging app. Viber’s latest version has been optimized for iOS 7.0 or later and is available in the app store for free. The messaging app was also updated back in November for compatibility with iOS 8, bringing interactive notification support and an extension for sharing. Other enhancements included in the most recent updates are video calling support, all new Public Chat feature and mobile gaming integration.
