HANOI: Vietnam exported 113,182 mt of natural rubber in September, down 9.2% on year and 4.5% from August, data released Thursday by Vietnam Customs showed. The value of exports in September also dropped 28.2% on year and 13% on month to $145 million.
The average export price of Vietnamese natural rubber in September stood at $1,370/mt, down 13% on year and down 7.5% from August, the Vietnam Rubber Association said in a statement on October 5.
China was the top recipient of Vietnamese natural rubber in September with 59,538 mt, down 1.5% on year, followed by Malaysia at 14,454 mt, down 44% from the same month in 2014, and India at 8,320 mt, down 15.8% on year. In the first nine months of this year, Vietnam exported 750,433 mt of natural rubber, up 8.2% on year. The exports were worth $1.07 billion, down 12.8% on year.
Main buyers of Vietnamese natural rubber over January-September were: China at 367,628 mt, up 25.7% on year; Malaysia at 120,558 mt, down 12.2% on year; and India at 54,297 mt, down 7% on year.
Vietnam is one of the major suppliers of natural rubber in the world. It exported more than 1 million mt last year, up 0.2% from 2013, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said earlier this year.
