HANOI: Vietnam imported 1.295 million mt of steel products in May, down 9.1% year on year, according to data released late Monday by Vietnam Customs.
The value of imports in May stood at $672 million, down 26.1% from May 2014.
In the month, Vietnam mainly imported steel products from China (745,082 mt, down 13.7% on the year), Japan (239,017 mt, down 8.1%) and South Korea (152,175 mt, up 24.8%), the customs data showed.
In the first five months of the year, Vietnam imported 5.273 million mt of steel products, surging 17.5% year on year.
