SYDNEY: Volkswagen has released a teaser image of its new generation Transporter T6, which will replace the 12 year-old T5 model in April.

Volkswagen gave buyers their first look at the new T6 last year, when it revealed the Transporter-based Tri-Star concept in Frankfurt.

But, while the Tri-Star was built on top of the current T5 model, the new T6 Transporter is expected to ride on a version of Volkswagen’s MQB platform, which already underpins models like the Golf and the new Passat.

The Tri-Star’s production-ready styling, however, is undoubtedly a preview of what we’ll see with the new Transporter, evolving the sharp features of the face lifted T5 and Volkswagen’s wider range.

It is also expected that the Tri-Star’s mostly production ready cabin will transition to the new Transporter with very few changes. The new Transporter will make its official debut on April 15.
