BEIJING: The Chinese smartphone company ZTE Nubia has announced a new smartphone Z9, which will hit the markets soon.

The ZTE Nubia Z9 has been strutting its stuff recently and it’s definitely one with looks to fall in love with. It’s another Chinese smartphone with very little side screen bezels to speak of, but this one also carries the proud heritage of ZTE’s premium Nubia brand. Nubia phones aren’t very popular outside China, because ZTE is yet to make a move towards the global market with them. But for the most part, we’re talking modern specs and really good design – most beautifully, the Nubia Z9 appears to be the culmination of both!

As you can see in this newly leaked press render, the smartphone sports curved screen edges like those of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, and features a sturdy-looking metal frame to boot! Mind you, we’re not sure this is the same curved AMOLED screen technology at play here. Like fellow Chinese vendor Oppo, ZTE may have designed another trick to make the smartphone’s sides “disappear”.

On the spec side, we’ve supposedly got a 5.5-inch 1440 x 2560 resolution display, and under the hood roars either a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 CPU or a 64-bit hexa-core Snapdragon 808 CPU. We’d take both gladly, and the Z9 will feature 3GB or 4GB of RAM on top of that. There’s also a fingerprint scanner built into the home button.

The Nubia Z9 is shaping up to be a very interesting smartphone, and seeing that it’s showing up on the Internet increasingly often, it may be heading to us sooner than we think. We’re keeping an eye on you, Nubia Z9, but you better deliver on all these promises of yours!
