LONDON: OnePlus has revealed that it is planning to increase the price-tag of the One smartphone on March 25 for the EU countries. The company blames the decreasing value of the Euro for this step, as it is a start-up and can’t absorb the costs.

According to OnePlus, it is currently selling the One at a loss and can’t continue to do that for long as Euro is volatile and it doesn’t seem to be stabilizing.

“Unfortunately, as the value of the euro continued to drop, our razor-thin margins began to turn into 0 margins. Due to the current value of the euro, we are now selling devices at a loss in the EU. In light of these exchange rate shifts and trends, we will be making some changes to our pricing structure for the One in markets that use the euro as currency,” wrote the company in a blog post.

Beginning March 25, the OnePlus One will retail at €299 for the 16GB Silk White version and €349 for the 64GB Sandstone Black version. Until that day, you can continue to buy the phone at the existing price (€269/€299).

OnePlus has also stated that accessories are not impacted and will continue to be available at the present rates.
