PAC directs TDAP to regularized its financial matters

ISLAMABAD: Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Wednesday directed the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) to get regularized its financial matters from Finance Division.     

The PAC met here under the chairmanship of Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah and discussed the Audit Paras of the Ministry of Commerce for the year 2010-11.

The PAC was told by the Audit that TDAP concluded an agreement with a firm for event management of World Expo China 2010 which was held at Shanghai China and adjustment of $ 2.834 million was not made.     

The Auditor told that the contract was awarded to firm in violation of Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules while bank guarantee was also obtained in violation of rules. The payments were to be released upon receipt of invoices which were also not found from the record, he added.      The Secretary Commerce told the committee that an inquiry was suggested in the DAC to probe the matter while no body was found guilty in the inquiry. The report of the inquiry has been submitted to the Audit, he added.     

Sheikh Roheeel Asghar said that how much increase in trade was made after arranging exhibition as huge amount was being spent for arranging these events.     

The PAC directed the ministry to regularize the matter of adjustment from Finance Division and PPRA.     

The PAC, while discussing another item in which non-recovery of standard rent of Rs 1,457 million was not made from the concerned, directed to recover the amount from the employee.
