0.5m youth to be imparted technical training: Shahbaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the schemes that can directly benefit the poor should be included in annual development programme.

The CM said this, while presiding over a high-level meeting, which reviewed priorities of Annual Development Programme 2015-16. MNA Hamza Shahbaz, MPAs Rana Sanaullah, Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning & Development and concerned secretaries were also present on the occasion.

He said that Development Strategy 2016 is a solid programme to promote economy of the province. He said that ADB 2015-16 will usher in a new era of progress and development in the province.

Shahbaz Sharif said that a comprehensive plan is being formulated for imparting technical training to 0.5 million youth each year. He said that Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme will bring a revolution in rural economy and every segment of the rural population will benefit from this programme. He said that modern infrastructure plays a key role in the promotion of economic and trade activities. He said that Skill Development, Danish Schools, Rural Roads Programme, Saaf Pani Project as well as other projects will bring a positive change in rural life.

Sharif said that modern cattle markets are being set up in the province for the benefit of livestock farmers. He said that investment of billions of rupees is being made in solar power projects in rural areas. He said that implementation of energy projects will change the destiny of the people of these areas.

He said that a number of energy projects will be completed by the end of 2018 which will remove darkness from the country. The Chief Minister said that investment of billions of rupees by banks in gas-based energy projects reflects their confidence in the policies of the government.
