KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information and Local Bodies Sharjeel Memon has launched ‘Clean, Green, and Peaceful Sindh’ campaign by sweeping the iconic old city crossing of Pakistan Chowk.
After launching the campaign he told the media said that the campaign will continue for a year, adding that illegal signboards and billboards will be removed and an anti-encroachment drive will be carried out, besides launching a tree plantation campaign across the province.
Memon warned against the ghost employees of the municipal departments, adding that the funds released to the district municipal corporations would be monitored.
Earlier, he started the province-wide plantation drive by planting a sapling on the premises of Sindh Assembly.
Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani, Senior Minister Nisar Khuhro, MQM leaders Khawaja Izharul Hasan and Faisal Subzwari and MPAs Imdad Pitafi and Fyaz Bhat were present on the occasion.
Memon said that civil society will be included in the tree plantation drive to create awareness about the importance of environmental protection. Initially 0.6 million saplings will be planted in the province, he said.
