0.7m new filers added to system : FBR Chairman Shabbar Zaidi

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) said Rs 579 billion revenue has been collected till now in current fiscal year and 0.7 million filers have been added to the system.

FBR chairman Shabbar Zaidi briefed Prime Minister Imran Khan about reforms and one year performance.

Zaidi told PM that filers have been increased from 1514817 in 2017 to 2561099 this year. He said domestic tax collection has been increased by 28 percent.

PM was briefed about automated registration, issuance of tax certificates, tax returns and online audits. Zaidi told PM the purpose of automation is to avoid corrupt practices.

Zaidi told PM that FBR in collaboration with NADRA has introduced Sahulat Web Portal so that everyone could have access to information online. He said online system of FBR would be made more effective.

He said FBR is facilitating businessmen in the country. He said FBR Urdu website would soon be started. He said to facilitate trade activities customs operations have been increased.

PM Imran on the occasion said reforms in FBR and end of corrupt practices remains top priority of government.

He said tax net would be broadened when public showed confidence in FBR. He said to gain the confidence of business community on spot recording of FBR teams visiting markets should be ensured.
