ISLAMABAD: A delegation of Finish investors, led by Finland-Pakistan Business Council Chairman Wille Eerola, has criticised the Pakistani government for not establishing ‘non-traditional’ power plants in the country.
Addressing the Second Finland-Pakistan Business Summit, Wille Eerola said that the Finish investors had submitted a proposal for setting up a 1,000 MW coal-based power plant through private sector investment. He said that the project would require around $1 billion investment and the projected sale price of electricity to the system would be 7.6 cents per unit.
“Besides there is a proposal to establish a mix solar-wind generation power plant in Pakistan,” Eerola added. He expressed hope that the Pakistan government would respond to their proposals.
The speakers at the summit highlighted that Finland, with a population of 5.5 million, was producing huge amount of electricity through various sources including ‘renewal’ which is eventually exported after fulfilling the local needs.
