1000 smuggled, dumped bottles of liquor recovered

KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate of Preventive Karachi has thwarted an attempt to smuggle more than 1000 bottles of liquor worth millions of rupees.

According to details, credible information was received to the effect that more than 1000 bottles of liquor would be smuggled from Gulf States into Pakistan through sea routes. An operational strategy was already being designed in this regard by the authorities concerned. A special team was deployed accordingly.

Strict surveillance and patrolling both in sea and on land was maintained in both the Western and Eastern sectors as a result of which the smugglers got no space and were compelled to dump the smuggled contraband in the sandy area of Eastern sector to avoid the danger of apprehension.

Customs officers and staff after hectic efforts succeeded to locate the dumped liquor in the Eastern sector at the specified area with the help of digging tools and recovered the smuggled foreign origin liquor duly packed in jute bags.
