MEXICO: Just another day in Texas — well, so this father and son thought. After some light digging, the four-year-old boy discovered prehistoric, dinosaur fossils. How’s that for family time?
In September 2014, in Mansfield, Texas, a zookeeper and his son took a trip to a local shopping center. It had been common knowledge for the area that recent construction was in progress around the region, making room for new stores.
Tim Brys, the zookeeper, said that it was basically a normal day for him and his son, Wiley. Typically, they go to sites to collect non-dinosaur fossils — or rather, Tim goes and Wiley tags along.
Well, this particular time, the son became a real archaeologist. He discovered some dinosaur bones that possibly date back 100 million years. Dinosaurs in Texas? Well, it’s obviously not impossible.
Though as improbable as it may seem, it turns out that the area used to be totally covered in water, says the zookeeper. While he knew there were fossils in the region, Tim possibly didn’t count of such particular ones, dinosaur in nature, surfacing. In an interview with NBC News, Brys mentioned how it all happened.
