100MW solar power project in final stages: Serious efforts being made to resolve energy crisis, claims CM

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that all the nation must be united to fight war against terrorism as fighting this war is survival of the country.

He said this while talking to the delegation of Pakistan Muslim League-N. The chief minister said that people have decided to maintain peace in the country at any cost and Pakistan will win the war against terrorism.

Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif has said that government is making serious efforts for resolving energy crisis being faced by the country and it is essential for controlling poverty and unemployment besides creation of job opportunities. He said that solution of the problem of shortage of electricity at the earliest is of vital importance for the development of industrial, trade, economic and agriculture sectors.

He said that the government led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is taking all out measures for resolving energy problem and special incentives are being given to foreign investors for increasing investment in energy sector. He said that Punjab government is also working on power generation projects based on solar power, coal and LNG.

CM was presiding over a high level meeting, which reviewed energy projects as well as setting up of LNG Power Park. Federal Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Secretary Petroleum, Managing Directors Sui Northern and Sui Southern Gas Pipelines, Chairman Planning & Development, Additional Chief Secretary Energy, Secretary Finance and concerned officers were present.

He said that a 100 megawatts power project of Punjab government in Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Bahawalapur is in final stages of completion and the provincial government has set up this project with its own resources. He said that planning has also been made for generation of electricity with LNG in Punjab and a project has been evolved for establishment of LNG Power Park in the province. He said that LNG power projects will be executed speedily and transparently while a high standard will also be maintained. He said that solution of the problem of shortage of electricity is the top priority of the government and energy projects are being implemented without wasting any time. He said that the goal of economic development cannot be achieved without energy.

The CM said that development of economy is of vital importance for controlling extremism and terrorism. Shahbaz Sharif said that work is also being carried out on coal, solar and wind power projects for resolving energy crisis.
