KINGSTON: Telecoms provider Digicel says in the last 48 hours more than 1,200 mobile customers have ported in to its network, following the introduction of number portability.

Chief operating officer, Digicel Jamaica, Sean Latty said, “We are happy that number portability is here so mobile users and corporate customers can keep their numbers and move to Digicel and start enjoying better value, world-class customer service and the fastest and most reliable 4G mobile network.”

Meanwhile, Digicel yesterday introduced “three great value offers as a welcome gift to mobile users who wish to make the move and join Jamaica’s biggest family”.

Latty said all customers who port to the Digicel network on June 26 and 27 will receive a free SIM card and $500 credit for a year. This offer, he said, is unlimited and available in all Digicel stores islandwide.

Additionally, Latty said customers who port to the Digicel network, will receive a free Avvio 750 smartphone; this is available in select Digicel stores across the island.

For postpaid customers, he said a free Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 or a Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini, plus a free two-month subscription and a 10 per cent rebate is being offered when they make the move to Digicel and activate any of their SMART plans.

Latty said the response to the offers has been overwhelming over the past few days.
