1290kg narcotics recovered in joint operation handed over to Customs Preventive

KARACHI: Pakistan Customs has unearthed smuggling of huge quantity of smuggled narcotics worth millions of rupees through sea route in a successful raid.

According to the details, narcotics handing over ceremony were held at the headquarters of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency where the officials of the Pakistan Navy and the officers of the Pakistan Customs were also present.

During the press briefing it was informed that the officers of the Pakistan Customs, Pakistan Navy as well as Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PSMA) in joint operation against the narcotics smuggling intercepted a boat named Al-Syed and confiscated huge quantity of narcotics in deep sea.

During the successful joint operation in deep sea smuggling narcotics weighing 1,290 kilograms with worth Rs258 millions of rupees were recovered from the boat whereas two drug peddlers were also apprehended.

The Anti-Narcotics Operation and seizures of narcotics by Pakistan Customs, Pakistan Navy and PMSA are result of meticulous planning and constant surveillance of Maritime Zones of the country and to curb the illicit activities including piracy, maritime terrorism, narco-arms smuggling and human smuggling including other crimes.

In order to fulfill national and international obligations Pakistan Customs, Pakistan Navy and PMSA resolve to continue efforts for maintaining peace and order at sea. All the recovered smuggled narcotics weighing 1,290 kilograms have now been handed over to the Customs authorities for further investigations.
