1300cc vehicles will be allocated to officials of customs field formations: Zahid Khokhar

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Member Customs Zahid Khokhar has said that 1300cc vehicles will be allocated to the officials of customs field formations.

Talking to Customs Today, the Customs Member said that on direction of Supreme Court, all the luxury tempered and confiscated vehicles those were in use of field formation officers have been grounded.

“On directions of honorable Supreme Court, all the luxury vehicles like Pajero, Land Cruiser, Parado and V-8 which were provided to different field formation officers have been grounded and only 1300cc vehicles will be allowed to field formation officials as per entitlement rules,” he said.

It is necessary to mention here that the Supreme Court of Pakistan Chief Justice Saqib Nisar took suo moto case No. 11/2018 against the matter of use of jeeps/luxury vehicles including Land Cruisers, Prados and SUVS etc by field formation officers of FBR.

In this regard, the Secretary Enforcement and Coordination FBR has approached the Chief Administration Administration Wing via letter bearing N0. 6 (3) Coord/2004-Misc, in which he asked all the Customs Directorates falling under his jurisdiction to provide details of grounded luxury vehicles. It was informed through the letter that on direction of the country’s apex court, a certificate has been provided to all the Customs Collectorates with details of place of parking of these vehicles duly verified by the Director General.
