SINGAPORE: Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has cancelled import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for June and is now seeking a cargo for October instead.

As per a tender document, the company is now seeking four monthly cargoes of 143,000 cubic metres each of LNG for delivery from July to October, instead of earlier requirements of June to August.

The reason for the amendment was not immediately clear. PSO has extended the closing date of the tender to June 13, with bids to remain valid until June 26. Industry sources said that this was the first time the company was buying LNG through a tender.

Energy-starved Pakistan received its first two shipments of LNG at the recently completed import terminal, becoming the latest of a growing list of importers benefiting from a more than 50 percent drop in prices for the fuel.
