Official figures show a 55-year-old woman as the oldest and a four-year-old boy as the youngest victims of the disease. Barring five, all the victims were young, aged between four and 27 years.

A senior official in the Sindh Health Department said that this year recorded the most CCHF cases in Karachi since year 2000. However, because of lack of the department’s capability to preserve the records on a scientific basis, he could not share the previous figures, especially the years when such cases were reported in greater numbers.
