KARACHI: Oil Companies Advisory Council Secretary General Amir Butt has said that all the oil marketing companies have agreed to provide 15,000 metric tonne of petrol per day in the country after a meeting with Federal Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and have started supplying this quantity.

He said that petrol shortage has been overcome. He said that attempts were made to create artificial petrol shortage which caused inconvenience to motorists. He demanded action against rumour mongers.
Amir Bhutt said that all imported petrol arrives in Karachi and 1,300 metric tonne petrol is supplied to the metropolis by three local refineries on daily basis.
The Secretary General said that rumours created panic buying at petrol stations in Karachi, despite petrol supply surpassing demand in the city.
He informed that 50,000 metric tonne petrol of the Pakistan State Oil arrived in Karachi on January 18, while Shell’s 22,000 metric tonne petrol reached on January 20.
He further said Hubco Oil Company’s 32,000 metric tonne petrol will reach here on January 24, while PSO’s 50,000 metric tonne petrol and 30,000 metric tonne petrol of Shell Oil Company will reach on January 29.
He said that there will be no shortage of petrol anywhere in the country. He further said that local oil refineries are supplying 5,000 metric tonnes petrol per day.
