1624 complaints received: FBR implements over 88% FTO decisions

LAHORE: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has reported implemented more than 88 per cent decisions of the Federal Tax Ombudsman in 2014.

According to FTO annual report 2014, FTO secretariat received a total of 1624 complaints last year compared to 1898 in 2013 of which 1548 were decided during the period under review.

A total of 1,374 decisions were implemented by the FBR and its field offices. The remaining were either challenged before the President of Pakistan and through review/representation.

Report said that a bout tax wise percentage, 51.40 % complaints were related to income tax and 33% sales tax while 13.50 % customs duty. Lahore based taxpayers filed the highest number of complaints with the FTO followed by Lahore and Faisalabad.

FTO Secretariat headed by Chaudhary Abdur Rauf set a record by disposing of complaints at an average of 52 days, which includes reply from FBR, rejoinder, holding of hearing, investigation and preparation of draft for order.
